Ethics in fashion photography

1. List the changes that were made to the model's face in the computer. (Look carefully)
  • Her neck was stretched out.
  • Her eyes were brought down.
  • Made her face smaller.
  • Made her eyes wider
2. Is it ethically acceptable to change a person's appearance like this in a photo? Why or why not?
This is ethically unacceptable because its like telling every woman in the world that she will never be beautiful enough unless she was surgically fixed to perfection.

3. Are there circumstances in which it would be more ethically wrong to do this type of manipulation?
Yes.

4. What types of changes are OK, and what aren't?
Maybe if they fixed a blemish or two, it would be okay.

5. Explain what you think the differences are between fashion photography and photojournalism.
Fashion photograhy can change peoples apearance and not get a bad name for themselves unlike in photojournalism. In photojournalism people depend on the information given out. so therefore the photos must be real.

6. What relationship does each type of photography have to reality, and how does this affect the ethical practice of each?
Well, all types of photography has an effect on everybodys life. Wether its to catch up on whats going on in America to trying to be as pretty as the model in the magazine you read everyday.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics: Part 2

I believe this photo is the modt unethical because it can stur up unnecessary  problems in the government.

I think this photo is the least unethical because its not as if there isn't any diversity at UW. They do have diversity this could have been a mistake the person made and needed to fix it last minute.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics: Part 1

The main point of this story is that photo manipulation in some cases are inappropiate. Photo manipulation gives out the wrong information, especially during serious events, such as war.  Photo manipulation can cost you a well paid job, and credibility. I personally think photo manipulation shows how lazy a photographer really is.
I think this unethical because if you edit your photos that shows that your photographer that has no pride in their work. A confident photographer can take pictures that are  beautiful without using one bit of photoshop.

National geographic warm up.

I like this photo because it makes me think of  where i come from and my pointo of view of the state that im from. This photo is also very clean cut and beautiful. I think this photo has a story behind it.

Id take a photo of how diverse this world has become.

Abandoned Theme Parks (:

I like the Lincoln Park, amusement park in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I want to go there because it has that creepy theme park look and feel to it due to the two deaths they had before becoming abandoned.

Five unusual places for a photograppher to shoot photos is:
  • Grave Yards
  • Abandoned mansions
  • Haunted locations
  • A hospital
  • A boring office

I think it would be interesting too photograph this place because of it authenticity. It also gives off a creepy adventurous vibe. I feel like if i were to take photos here i would discover something really creepy but at the same time a story of something beautiful, maybe even sad. I would expect to take photos of maybe the past and the disrepaired present, or a story about a family that once lived there for centuries.

In order to be able to take those photo i would have to figure out the location of this house ,and wether or not its still standing. I would probably need a camera that would shoot really good photos in a slighty dark areas  depending on the lighting from the sun or the lights inside the house.
